Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow
Disco Sparks feat. Christine Wiltshire & The D.S. Orchestra
£2.00
Disco Sparks has always been fascinated and inspired by music from TV series and films, mainly from the 60s, 70s and 80s. One of their all-time favourites is Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow. There are various versions, including of course Mary Clayton’s, but the one by Sammy Davis Jr. appealed to them the most.
How did the Disco Sparks tune come about? Very spontaneously, when Ed played the track during a production meeting, the brainstorming started with the idea of what it would be like to produce their own modern dance version, with the intention of honoring the legendary track. They immediately agreed to ask the fantastic Christine Wiltshire from Phreek, Class Action, Luther, Poussez to do the lead vocal. Disco Sparks then created a group of 13 diverse and seasoned players to work on Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow with the brass section and vocals recorded at the renowned STMPD studio. What was created is a life-affirming, lush disco/soul cut with funk-drenched basslines, epic brass sections and standout vocals from a legendary singer.
